Here are the materials for our ITU.

Biology Day 1
Students will be provided whiteboards and dry erase markers to allow them to share their thoughts with the class and assist them as a visual aid. Students will use microscopes to view samples of pond water, tap water, and filtered water. Students will use water quality testing kits to determine the pH, nitrogen levels and phosphate levels in samples of pond water, tap water, and filtered water. Students will use Chromebooks to access the Water Pollution Gizmo (A subscription is needed to access this site. Trial subscriptions are available.) and the CDC’s website on Water-related Diseases and Contaminants in Public Water Systems websites. Provide students with a Water pollution graphic organizer to help them organize their information. Students will self-assess how they did on their presentation on Presentation Rubric as well as write a reflection on lined paper. Day 2 Students will use the VTW graphic organizer that contains a list of roles and directions for the day. Students will use the CCSS Prompts (peach sheet) to assist in orchestrating their ideas and encouraging their group-mates. |
EnglishDay 1
Students will be provided with the Jigsaw and Directions for the activities. Students will jigsaw the 6 articles: Flint Crisis, Trash > Fish in Ocean article, clean water in Cambodia, water wells for Africa, TAP UNICEF project, EPA on contamination, taking notes on lined paper about their article to assist them with the key ideas and questions/comments they have to share with their group and the class. Whiteboards and dry erase markers will be provided to students to allow them to share their thoughts with the class and assist them as a visual aid. Students will use the Vocab Matrix as a graphic organizer for the Vocab Matrix Activity Students will self-assess how they did on their presentation on Presentation Rubric as well as write a reflection on lined paper. Day 2 Students will use the VTW graphic organizer that contains a list of roles and directions for the day. Students will use the CCSS Prompts (peach sheet) to assist in orchestrating their ideas and encouraging their group-mates. |
A Combination of Biology and English
Students will use the VTW graphic organizer that contains a list of roles and directions for the day.
Students will use the CCSS Prompts (peach sheet) to assist in orchestrating their ideas and encouraging their group-mates.
Students will use art supplies (markers, scissors, glue, paper, highlighters, colored pencils, etc.) for sketching/creating their posters.
Students will use their own notes on the articles/Gizmo to assist them in creating their poster.
Students will self-assess how well they did on their presentation and poster on the Poster and Presentation Rubrics as well as write a reflection on lined paper.
